Throughout the last year, the decrease in in-person communication and interactions have led to an increase in the consumption of audio content. Most people binged their way through television series and movies, leading them away from visual stimulation and into audio-based territory. While the auditory medium offers a new escape from extremely repetitive daily life and a much-needed break from COVID-induced stress, researchers say that breaks that reduce anxiety may actually heighten it.
