Citi and Other Small Businesses Go Video Call-Free on Fridays
One major side effect that has come with WFH has been work fatigue. Sitting at home alone, looking at a blue light screen for hours drains many and takes any real motivation out of their work day. In response to this fatigue, Citi has announced that it will bring “Zoom-Free Fridays” into its company’s work week. The bank has listened to its employees’ struggle with work and life balance due to constant online work and interactions, planning to add employee days off in May on top of its video-free days. Citi acts as an example that, though the pandemic may be winding down with vaccines, there may not be an end to WFH just yet and businesses should be working to take care of their employees instead of working around social distance restrictions.
